Data Science and the Digital Thread

As Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) is increasingly applied to real large-scale systems, two realizations have become apparent:

  • It must encompass a federation of all the separate engineering domain models, the Digital Thread paradigm, and
  • A range of best-in-class data science tools must be available to analyze and manage the millions of digital objects involved.
    In our presentation, we will demonstrate the first integration of Syndeia, an API-first digital thread platform from Intercax, with the Vitech GENESYS Server and the linking of GENESYS systems architecture objects with PLM, ALM, requirements and project management repositories. A particular focus is the role data science techniques can play in real-time system model development, including design reviews.

We will demonstrate model navigation, validation, impact analysis and digital document generation, using

  • Interactive digital thread exploration
  • Gremlin Query Language graph analysis, and
  • Custom Jupyter Notebook data analysis and visualization all operating through a common Syndeia Cloud REST API.

Speaker Bio

Dr. Dirk Zwemer is President of Intercax LLC in Atlanta, GA, a supplier of digital engineering software platforms such as Syndeia and ParaMagic. In addition to business development and management responsibilities, he is an active teacher and consultant in the field, helping organizations adopt best practices in digital engineering, and holds Level 4 Model Builder-Advanced certification as an OMG System Modeling Professional.
